USDA to Reopen FSA Offices for Limited Services During Government Shutdown (January 24-February 8)

AgriLife Logo

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Sonny Perdue today announced that all Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices nationwide will soon reopen to provide additional administrative services to farmers and ranchers during the lapse in federal funding.  Certain FSA offices have been providing limited services for existing loans and tax documents since January 17 and will continue to do so through January 23.  Beginning January 24, however, all FSA offices will open and offer a longer list of transactions they will accommodate.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

On January 8, 2019, Dr. Sonja Davis was awarded the 2018-2019 Superior Service Award – Volunteerism on behalf of all the Harris County Master Wellness Volunteers.

These awards are the highest honor conferred by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension to faculty and staff who have excelled in their job performance. To be nominated, recommended, and selected for this special award is a process involving co-workers, peers on the Extension Honor Awards Committee, and the Extension administration. It is high praise indeed of her outstanding accomplishments.

Since 2013, the Harris County Master Wellness Volunteers have served as advocates for Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and substantially increased the scope and impact of the Harris County Family & Community Health Unit.  Harris County has 32 trained volunteers who have reached over 21,552 citizens and contributed an estimated 1,715 volunteer hours, valued at an estimated $38,373.72.
